Final Major Project: Research - The Style of architecture

The Style of architecture

For my research i will be looking on different styles of architecture .Beach architecture involves a diverse array of styles from Classical, Mediterranean revival to Art Deco to Modern art deco, International style, Organic style, Modern, and Contemporary styles.

Beach architecture employs essential components in an arbitrary arrangement to create designs that explore the themes of coziness, lightness, and airiness.

Open design is used in most beach structures to provide adaptability, ease of use and availability of space for multiple uses. Large windows let in natural light and allow you to enjoy breathtaking views of the beach and surrounding area while maintaining an attractive aesthetic. It also suggests blending the boundaries between indoor and outdoor spaces. Window treatments such as shutters or blinds allow a nice beach breeze into the room while providing shade from the sun. The use of wood, bamboo or other readily available local materials to create beautiful exterior or interior finishes is a highly desirable aesthetic feature in beach architecture.

Home slopes down in sync with the stunning angle of the coastal bluff that spans the entire slope. Nunez designed the floor plan less as individual rooms and more as a sequence of floors with varying sizes and ceiling heights, some enclosed in wooden boxes that jut out through the sloping plane of the roof. The idea, Nunez said, was to build a house that would feature the surprising slope and current characteristics of the site. The diagonal volume breaks up what he calls "the monotony of the open plan," abandoning hierarchy and order in favor of formal ambiguity and pure sculpture. This is a sophisticated yet vibrant place full of surprises. Fifteen exposed concrete columns throughout the house have different shapes. Despite these theatrical extravagances, the interior feels incredibly efficient—a necessary attribute in a home with so many stairs—thanks to the natural and pleasing organization of the floor plan and flow of movement. Beautifully toned concrete slabs and columns contrast with the platonic masses of the natural-finished lenga, a local wood that, thanks to its limited palette, is similar to American cherry.

Bates Masi + Architects Conceives of a Beach House in Long Island That Pays Homage to its Surroundings

Family home Stony Hill on Long Island. The architecture and surrounding landscape were designed by Paul Masi, principal of the firm and Interior Design Hall of Fame inductee. The high internal volumes are made possible by the steeply pitched gable roofs, which also give the building a massive, barn-like appearance and eliminate the need for ties. A modern take on a centuries-old method is traditional thatch siding sandwiched between an open frame. Natural elements such as clay tiles and white oak create a mood that pairs well with the pastoral theme.
