Children’s state flower to Connecticut (Four O’clock)

Children’s state flower (Four O’clock)

The Four O’Clock was favorite of Michaela’s and she really enjoyed planting, caring for and harvesting the seeds from this pretty and wonderfully fragrant flower. (Planting Michaela's garden 2023) The Connecticut is the only one state in the USA , where you can find this flowers. And all of this flowers which you can see or find was replanted from original Michaela’s garden in Cheshire.

The rooftop garden of the Connecticut Science Centre is a monument to Michaela Rose Petit. The teenage girl Michaela becomes a victim of the Cheshire home invasion murders with her family. The garden invites people to take part in gardening like a form of community service.

In 2015, the flower was renamed from the Connecticut Children's Flower to the Four O'clock Flower. It blooms with bright flowers, usually opening in the early evening, around four o'clock.

The tradition of planting Michaela's Garden each year not only honors Michaela's memory, but also supports the Petit Family Foundation's mission of promoting science education, helping people living with chronic illnesses, and advocating for victims of violence. (Planting Michaela's garden 2023)

The reason why i chose this flower because this flower have story and it is growing only in Connecticut state. And due to New Cromwell located in this state i decided it would be a interesting idea to use it for inspiration.

It the close look of this flower Four O'clock you can easily see the similarity from flower and my building from bird view. The flower have five petals but i decided to make my building more simple with 4 petals. Create more symmetrical design. Or on the other hand I look at it this in different way the central ring is the flower, and the wings are the leaves.

Honestly it very interesting idea to have inspiration from flower in my opinion. Because it have organic forms and from this view have more connection with nature compared square building.
