Hospital Nordsjælland

BIG’s create the design for new hospital, serving over 300,000 people, seeks to "preserve the site’s existing natural features while optimizing the efficient hospital machine."(Rosenfield, 2013) This hospital include 3 other hospital, built on a former hunting area with rolling hills, many small ponds and large forest. The design of hospital is eight rings conected with each other. Each of this rings have space for green space and park in center. The straight green roof follows the natural topography, and the rings have different heigh to provide access to green space.  The facade of the building designed with built-in flower pots, make this more greenery and create really nature in patient bedroom window. Even it have large size, it is construct in way to make easy navigation. Hospital build around a central node which allow access to all departments. The hospital surround by nature and have park and a lot of green oasis inside.  Bjarke Ingels stated: “Studies show that daylight and views to green areas and plants has a healing effect on bed lying patients.

The form of the Nordsjællan Hospital have some similarity to mine from bird view. It is an organic cross shape.  Compare to my project, it doesn't have open space inside the building. It will have a look of whole building without hole.
